The first port of call is a journey through mindful movement guided by Feldenkrais Method practitioner and physiotherapist Ryan Jansen.
You’ll see Ryan wearing shorts all year round whether he is rolling around on the floor finding the most efficient way to get up off it again, or appreciating fine wine, art or history around London.
It is common in physical therapies (and perhaps also society at large) to assume that our physical problems arise because our body is unable to withstand the exertion caused by a certain activity - that we’re not strong enough, don’t have enough stamina or that the activity is too demanding. We often try to remedy the situation by making ourselves stronger, more flexible, building our endurance or avoiding the activity. All too often, even at the highest level in professional sport, we rarely consider how we perform the task, how we move, how we use ourselves.
Ryan will bring us a flavor of what its like to pay attention to small movements with curiosity, and then invite these movements into larger and more complex actions. This Le Pub will have an experiential emphasis so be prepared to kick off your shoes and socks as Ryan takes us on a journey of awareness through movement.
