What to expect
Common to all services is a high level of professionalism. We work:
- to ensure you are treated as an individual
- in accordance with relevant cutting edge science and research
- with strong links to other highly qualified and respected healthcare and business professionals
- to provide access to resources as possible and appropriate
...as someone with pain
One of our main aims is to allow sufficient time for you to tell your story. Often the longer you've had a pain problem, the more there is for you to tell and for us to understand.
We feel it is important to create an environment where you and your clinician are working together in guiding treatment and further sessions.
We are able to make contact with your doctors or other therapists as appropriate and to work alongside them in your treatment.
Once you have had your initial face-to-face assessment, telephone, skype and/or email support can be given as appropriate.
When you make contact with us, we will ask for some details which should give an indication as to the likely time needed for the initial assessment.
...as a healthcare professional
We can support you with one-to-one mentoring in treating the more complex pain patient that you are working with. This may involve joint assessment or treatment sessions and a suggested plan for you to implement with your patient.
If you and your colleagues are interested in keeping up-to-date with pain science then we can arrange bespoke courses.
These could involve understanding pain mechanisms and how to identify these in your patients; evidence and thinking in addressing pain conditions such as phantom limb pain, CRPS and low back pain; altered body perception and pain.
...as someone interested in performance in sport
We work with teams and individuals to tailor neurological screening protocols specific to the needs of the sport.
We decide together on the timetable for screening which is undertaken at regular intervals across a season in order to provide an in depth analysis of the health status of each player's nervous system and the likely impact this will have on future training and performance.
We can then work in conjunction with you, whether you are the player or the medical team, to provide individualised recommendations. Example of screening protocol for peripheral nerve injuries.
